![]() ![]() ![]() What I don't particularly like, is that it's not owned by Sony anymore. I can't think of any other games that are even relative to how Planetside plays. It's true that there are less people playing, but Planetside has many more years left until it's "dead", barring the exception that another game comes along that allows freedom and persistent conflict better than PS2.īattlefield can try, but it's still kind of a poo game in comparison when it comes to the grand scale. (This has aved me a lot of money when buying early access games.) Developer diary history also shows that Daybreak is still interested in doing stuff with it - this is something I always look for when trying to decide whether game development is still "active". The game still has a dev-team assigned to it, in a capacity other than just maintenance so the population count is obviously still worth expanding. There would still be people playing it today if PS1 was still online. Planetside 1 lasted 13+ years before it "died" - and that was only because Sony shut everything down to force the existing playerbase into PS2. The game will never "die" until they cut the servers off. The short answer, is that it's always going to have a cult following.
